I feel so incredibly lucky that this is what I get to do for a living. Helping writers realize the true potential of their stories is more rewarding than I could ever describe... and I'm a writer. Whether a client's story is the starting breath of an idea, an outline ready to be transformed onto the page, or a full manuscript or screenplay that needs a second set of eyes, I am prepared, committed, and excited to drive the story toward professional standards.
My approach to helping a writer is to focus on the heart of their story. Once we decipher what the story is about and who the story belongs to, everything builds around that. There's a moment where everything clicks, and it is magic for both me and the writer. Many of my clients have gone on to win writing contests, place in mentorship programs, gain representation, and earn professional writing credits.
I received my MFA in Screenwriting from Boston University, which really shaped my expertise in crafting compelling stories and dynamic characters. While studying at BU, I was a sought-after editor at the COM Writing Center, as my success in helping students with their creative and dramatic writing was revered. I then taught storytelling at Boston University for many years, teaching undergraduate students the importance of structure, characterization, pacing, tension building, stakes, and the overall meaning and heart behind a story.
My screenplays have been named as finalists in the NYC PictureStart Film Festival, the New York Screenplay Contest, and the Fleder-Rosenberg Short Screenplay Contest. I was nominated for the Humanitas Prize and was also listed in Variety Magazine's Students to Watch edition.
My debut YA Fantasy novel, Awakened, was featured on Tor.com, and was released in September 2021 through The Parliament House Press. I was also named a finalist in Book Pipeline’s 2020 Unpublished Contest in the Young Adult category. I now act as a judge for both Book Pipeline's contests and Script Pipeline's contests, using my expertise to identify successful and compelling stories.
I’ve been working as an editor in fiction and nonfiction for nearly ten years, allowing me to bring a wealth of knowledge to my clients. And just as every story is different, so is every writer. I am happy to work with writers in whatever capacity suits their needs. While I have set service-offerings, I am always willing to create customized packages to any writer's specific needs.
